REAL ROAD WARRIORS ON ROUTE 66...

Here is your chance to finally make that drive you've always thought about. Route 66! I am planning my own road tour this Sept 12, leaving Toronto and driving to LA and back.

Think about it, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, California. Although much of the original road does not exist, there are some great sections still left. Tons of original attractions to see like Funks Grove in
Illinois, Our Lady of the Highway and the Chain of Rocks Bridge in Illinois. Towns like Pontiac, Springfield, Lincoln and that's just in Illinois..

Lots to see, outside of the first day this is not inter-state run but touring as many old towns and attractions as possible. It's a long drive that will take about three weeks but some of the sites are amazing - like the Coral Inn, the UDrop and on and on.

The run back will be the shortest route possible. So if your interested in discovering America, before its too late, contact me.

I have already been contacted by the Route 66 Association of Illinois. They will post the trip on their site as will all other Route 66 Association. We could provide trip updates everyday and people could follow our progress or join us on route.  We could also, through our club invite clubs in those states to meet up for a beer or two on the way.

I think it would be blast, hey if some guy can drive a midget around the world, driving to LA and back should be a breeze.

Update - February 10, 2010;
So far there has been very little interest in doing a Route 66 tour. I have a few US cars that may join me for a while, both cars are from the Illinois area. I do recognize that the time frame and cost is prohibitive and the fact that Belleville looms large on everyone's calendar this year, but like I've stated it's not every day that you do this type of trip. Some may be waiting for Reno next year which I think would be a blast as well and a trip that I would like to make.

At this point all club members have my contact information. Should you want to discuss this road trip, please contact me. I would be more than happy to talk to you about it. Other than that I will not longer post this information on the club site about this trip
